This family session was months in the making! When their session day finally rolled around and it was raining in the Kansas City area, we worried. About 30 minutes before the session was supposed to start, the rain let up at our location and we went for it! The rain held off for us, and we all did a lot of laughing during the session. Such a good time! Here are some of my favorites from the morning.

I didn’t think this poor family was ever going to get their spring session in! Finally, on the third (and rather last-minute) date attempt we had warm temps and sunny skies. Whew! While cloudy skies are fantastic (no squinty eyes!), I do love when the sun is low on the horizon and casting a warm glow on everything. Here are some of my favorites from this family’s session, and here’s to spring truly arriving (we hope)!
Ah, newborns! I just love photographing newborns! They may be time consuming sessions, and most other sessions don’t involve me getting some sort of bodily fluid on me or my stuff, but when we get that baby to sleep, magic happens, and it’s all worth it! I’m already looking forward to his 4 month session; I just love watching these babies grow, change, and learn new skills in their first year.

**Please note, we did not precariously balance a newborn in that helmet shot. Newborn safety is my very first priority – this image was made with two separate images being merged in Photoshop. Expect to see that helmet in his other upcoming sessions; it’s special to his dad!
He has the coolest Dr. Seuss themed nursery! He wasn’t a fan of our original photo plan, so we went with Plan B, which turned out sweetly too.
